As part of the Waterfront Park development, our team constructed a six-stall, open-air, all gender facility built along the Waterfront promenade. Surrounded by pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic made the safety of both workers and the public a top priority, leading our team to develop a project-specific Health and Safety Plan to guide construction. Given the site’s proximity to Elliott Bay, the team also needed to create a waste management, spill prevention, and stormwater control plans to protect the surrounding environment. With ongoing construction in adjacent areas, close coordination to major deliveries and concrete pours with other project teams were planned to prevent scheduling conflicts.
The restroom’s design and construction featured HSS structural steel framing, sliding gates, and a CMU plumbing wall with a custom ceramic tile mural. A translucent roof and wall panel system provided natural light, and toilet partitions that included occupancy lights. The surrounding area was enhanced with steel planters, irrigation, a hardwood boardwalk, and landscaping, ensuring a seamless integration into the broader Waterfront Park project.
